The countdown has begun to when the best professional Quake Champions players in the world will battle in the inaugural Quake World Championships Finals at QuakeCon in Dallas, TX, starting on August 24th. At stake… Their share of the $1 million dollar prize pool and a place among the legends of esports’ founding franchise.
AMD has partnered with Bethesda Softworks as the title sponsor for the Quake World Championships, helping to bring to life the world’s most intense esports competition both live, on stage, for the QuakeCon faithful and broadcast to the world via livestream.
“We’re proud to be partners for the inaugural Quake World Championships and help bring Quake back to the forefront of the sports world where it belongs,” said Scott Herkelman, corporate vice president and general manager, Gaming, Radeon Technologies Group, AMD. “We’ve enjoyed a fantastic collaboration with Bethesda across many projects. Working together on the Quake World Championships is one of the most exciting opportunities, where industry-leading technology can shine and our support of esports can grow through the incredible popularity of competitive Quake.”
After weeks of intense global qualifying matches in the Quake World Championships, eight of the world’s best Quake esports teams have earned a spot in the Sacrifice Finals and 24 elite individual fraggers have punched their tickets for QuakeCon’s Duel Finals. An additional eight Duel Finalists will earn their spots by fighting through the Open Competition to be held in the Bring-Your-Own-Computer (BYOC) area of QuakeCon.
The Million Dollar Finals from QuakeCon will be streamed live for all to watch August 24-26 at Twitch.TV/QuakeChampions and Facebook.com/Quake.
QuakeCon attendees will also have an opportunity to check out all of the latest AMD tech in the AMD booth in the QuakeCon exhibit hall, Aug 24-26 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas, TX.
